Whether a company want to export or import, they  need to register with SARS.
The application form is available on the SARS website (www.sars.gov.za)
The basic document is a DA185. Depending on the status one wants to apply for, other application forms also needs to be completed. Remember that if you want to export under the Trade Agreements, the necessary application forms needs to be completed for this as well. There are no cost involved for this registration. The company will be allocated a customs code, which is then also the code that will reflect on the customs documentation, when applying for export/import approval of a product.
